Win some Yarn ~ It's Giveaway time again

Could you use some new sock yarn? I'm feeling the urge to share some fingering weight love. There's enough to make 4 pairs of socks or 4 scarves or 4 pairs of gloves or whatever your heart fancies. It could be your new stash enhancement until you decide what you'd like to do with it yarn with no buyers remorse? Free to a good home.

This is two skeins of Knit Picks Gloss in Cocoa, which is a 70% Merino and 30% silk blend.

Two balls of Socken Wolle 4-ply in blues, greens, purples and turquoise. I have got to tell you ~ these were hard to part with, but I'm sure someone else will love them as much as I do. A 75% Virgin Wool and 25% Polyamid (nylon) blend that's machine washable and felt resistant, says so on the label.

Two balls of Knit Picks Essential 75% Superwash Wool and 25% Nylon in a two-tone brown and cedar shade called Dune Twist.

And finally two more balls of Socken Wolle in the same 75% Virgin Woole and 25% Polyamid blend in really delicious solid green. It's photographed on the olive side in this picture but this yarn is a vibrant apple-y green.

If you're interesting in re-homing this pretty yarn leave a comment and tell me something about yourself. I really, truly enjoy getting to know you all. Or if you'd rather not tell me something about yourself, feel free to ask a question or two, or three about me! Ask anything at all you might be interested in knowing about me EXCEPT how much I weigh... 'cause I am just not going to answer that question! A simple 'want yarn' will do too.

The Giveaway will stay open until Sunday, September 20th at noon. Let me hear from you if you want this to show up in your mailbox and I'll send this sock yarn happily your way doesn't matter where you live!

Oh I have just started knitting socks again and I love the yarns you have. I especially love the green and the blue ones. I am determined to finish this year off with knitting at least another 3 pairs of socks. How many socks do you knit a year.

Some of those colors would be great for some manly socks, which I am due to knit hubby ;) (thought I'm not sure he would approve of the variegated blue skeins)

Something about myself...that you don't already know. Hmm.

I was the Ralph Lauren Bedding Sales Manager for a department store that had a chain through the central US states (Marshall Fields, now just another chain that got swallowed up by the bloated Macy's corp). It was just a glorified sales position that focused on RL bedding. I'm actually quite thankful I worked with bedding and bathroom linens. I am now over educated with purchasing linens, much to the chagrin of other sales people.

So sweet of you to have this giveaway. All the yarn is beautiful and I've knitted with some of them before. So, that said, I'll let someone else enjoy the yarn. I'll try to mention your giveaway on my blog to give you additional traffic if that is ok. Happy Knitting!

What a nice way to destash - by sharing with fellow knitters.
All the give away skeins look very nice and will be accepted into any home, I'm sure.

Something about me? I bought a sheep footstool at a local craft fair this weekend. He's soft & wooly and in need of a good knitter's home.

Joansie sent me this way. What a wonderful and gracious deed to part with sock yarn. I love the solids. Where do you by the "Socken Wolle" in the US? I have never seen it and as an old German I know it has to come from over there. Of course, nowadays, probably made in Turkey, et al. I'm retired, live in Michigan, love to knit and am currently involved in the 52 pair sock plunge. Yep, I can't believe it myself. Now to go and explore your blog. Renate hich is Renee in German

Hello Renee,
this is a wonderful thing you're doing here. -- I hope to give yarn away one day. I will tell you that I have been knitting a long time but with much limit where projects were concerned. Since joining the knit blogging world along with Ravelry; I've been broadening my projects. I just completed my first lace shawl project and I am dying to get into socks. I can knit socks, I can knit socks is what I've been telling myself. I would love the yarn. Thanks !

Chuckle. Love that bit about free to a "good home." Reminds me of what they say when giving away kittens - LOL

What gorgeous Fall colors to inspire all sorts of knitting happiness. I know someone will be very thrilled to receive this. Wasted on me, though, as I've got mounds of yarn to work my way through - LOL

You know me already pretty well - so hard to come up with something new. How about this - I'm a Notre Dame grad and I *love* watching college football on Saturday afternoons!

I returned to fiber when paralysis made glassmaking out of reach. I can no longer weave on my floor loom, but I've beeen busy trying to feed myself by writing down the patterns I make up.
I live in the Southern finger Lakes where summer has been too cold and winter too long, but the air is fresh and the wondrouse weeds for papermaking abound. Joansie's note setn me here, I would love some more green or brown for the new scarf-necklaces I've designed

AlisonH said...

I don't need the yarn and others might, so don't put me in the running, but for whatever it's worth, if you want a break from socks, the quantities of each of those would be great for a shawl. Which I might know a few good patterns for, but that would sound too much like an obnoxious ad for my book so I'll be quiet now.

and something about me? I'll be saying goodbye to my 30s pretty soon!

Hi! I just discovered your blog and am so glad I did. I love knitting socks, so I would enjoy this lovely yarn if I won it. Hmmm. I'm also Canadian (high five!). And a spinner.

AlisonH said...

Thank you, Renee, much appreciated--it's "Wrapped in Comfort: Knitted Lace Shawls," by Alison Jeppson Hyde. Martingale published it. It's got a story to each pattern and a how to knit lace section with both verbal and pictorial instructions.

The shawls themselves are what I spent a lot of time looking for and then finally gave up and came up with my own: they're knitted top-down in a circular or semi-circular shape, v-necked in front, or you can throw them over your shoulder. You get the gracefulness of a flattering sweeping shape without having to obscure half the work when you wear it--and: they absolutely Stay On.

I gave the stitch count to each lace pattern in there so that if someone just wants to make a stole, they can cast on so many repeats and go for it. There are a few scarves, too; when I mailed everything in, I wasn't quite sure what the publisher wanted most, and they liked those. (Or maybe especially the stories with them?)

If you go to my spindyeknit.com blog and search the Wrapped in Comfort category, you'll get some pictures of some of the shawls I've made in other colors and yarns than in the book.

Hi! This is my first time commenting here, but I love your finished projects. Very beautiful. I do have a question about you! When did you knit your first pair of socks?

I'll answer my own question for my personal factoid...I have yet to knit socks, but I am very excited for when I finally possess the skills to! I'd much rather buy yarn than socks ;)

Awesome giveaway!

I saw that you were giving this away, but I don't want it so I didn't comment :)

As you know from my yarn diet, I certainly don't need it. And you SHOULD join me in the diet. It's always nicer to have someone to feel the pain with. Oh wait, that definitely won't tempt you to join me...

After staying home for 26 years to raise our 6 daughters, I went back to work to teach Physics 6 years ago. It has been a wild ride, but I find it gets in the way of my knitting! Which does not keep me from always having at least one project in the works!

I love the yarn, especially the purple, aqua, etc. one!

Who wouldn`t want that yarn? I am struggling to learn to knit socks, and have just finished my first pair. It would be lovely to have more sock yarn in my stash, because I will continue to knit socks.

Something about myself - I wish I could draw. No matter what other creative outlets I have, I still wish I could just sit down and draw a beautiful picture. Taken classes, gone through the how-to books, even hired an artist to move my hand around while I held a pencil. Never going to happen though.

These are really beautiful yarns, thanks for the giveaway.

Well I have knit four pairs of socks none of which have fit me so I'm hoping that armed with possible new yarn and bigger needles I can do this lol.
